This Blenheim made Pale Ale ale has a lovely hop backbone, but is balanced nicely. The hops are not too assertive, and they provide a long, lingering finish. A great beer, well made. Food Match: Tuna, or a Chinese Shrimp dish.

Local Brewery Highlight
Wigram Brewing - Christchurch
Based in Sonters Road, Wigram and brewing a wide range of distinctive beers, with an aeronautical theme. The most distinctive beer is their Spruce Beer based on the recipe used by Captain Cook in 1773 in Doubtful Sound.
The range includes:
Bavarian Pilsner, Bristol Best Bitter, Captain Cook Spruce (using molasses, rimu and manuka), Dakota Dark, Harvard Honey Ale, Hefe Weizen, Kortegas Sparkling Ale (using historic Hokitika River hops), Munchner Dunkel and Vienna Lager.
Cider for Coeliacs
Weston's Stowford Press Medium Dry Cider (UK), 330ml bottle.
Although not claiming to be gluten free, this cider is suitable for vegetarians, vegans, and coeliacs.
Update: 4-11-07
The makers of Stowford Press cider are no longer exporting to New Zealand, and we sold the last bottle as of Saturday. They are looking for someone in NZ to make the cider under licence, but have had no success as yet.
